Meitao Qu and Amy J Wilson began working together in 2022 through The Exchange 2, a programme pairing artists from across the UK to open up space for new creative conversations. They were both interested in the subject of miniatures, simulation and the environment. They began their collaboration with the research question: ‘If 19th century industrialisation transformed nature into an artificial kingdom of miniature scale, what influence has the 4th industrial revolution had on the way we represent nature?’. Since then we have worked together on a number of iterations of Prefab Paradise, exploring game engines, VR, speculative narratives and 3D printing. The project's latest iteration is on display at Turf Projects from the 11th July - 26th September 2026. Research and development for Prefab Paradise was supported by Collusion through their ART//TECH//PLAY programme.
